Watching Amaury Laverhne win the World Title over the weekend was one More ...
Well, I have kept it pretty low key, but today I started filming for the Joker 3. This is going to be a big budget film that involves actors, and more than a touch from Hollywood's best!
I knew that would suck you in, no unfortunately I haven't been authorised to commence my multimillion dollar production of the Joker 3, but I did get the opportunity to see the pro's in action today on the North Shore.
Well, everyday there is something going on, if it's not 10 ft waves, contest, brawls or sunsets, then it's another Hollywood movie filmed on the North Shore. Today I was like a poacher stalking a chicken field as I got on my groupie hat and admired how the big boys make movies.
This movie is about a girl called Bethany Hamilton, a girl surfer who got her arm bitten off by a shark a few years back. She didn't let that stop her and got straight back on the board and now surfs 10ft waves and competes in contests... yes, with one arm. "How?" I hear you say. Well I don't really know, but I'm sure the movie will explain all that. The other thing it will explain is her brother, Tim Hamilton. He is a bodyboarder, and actually a pretty good one at that. He even made that bodyboarding flick Boogie Nation. Apparently Hubb is going to get a few waves on the movie playing Timmy. That's right, good bodyboarding on mainstream media! That can't be right, can it? Anyway, the story's not about Timmy, but more Bethany, so don't think you're about to see a 10 minute section on Hubb, but it's all good anyhow. Timmy (see in the above photo with me) was telling me he has had the actor who is playing him hanging around trying to learn his character. How's that! Imaging someone was following you around analysing everything you do: How you talk, eat and... won't go there? Anyway despite my persistence for a leading role in the movie, they surprisingly haven't confirmed my audition? All jokes aside, it is amazing watching how systematic the whole big screen movie thing really is. There are so many people and they are all busy doing tasks to keep the ship sailing. When you watch a movie, it is easy to get wrapped up in the characters and forget about all the people behind the scenes that really did make it happen.
As for waves today, it was pretty ordinary due to the winds, with waves in the 4ft range. I had a core strength and stretching stint today for about four hours. I just put on the music and the time just flew. Also, went for a fun surf after that at V-Land. It's a great little wave that allows you to get in a rhythm.
In addition, I have just proofed a little section that is going to be on the new Turbo site in the next couple of days. You will have to check it out, I think the new site is less than a week away from being upload. You will be able to see it on www.turbosurfdesigns.com.au
The waves are just starting to pick up, tomorrow should be in the 10ft range again.

Bethany's is an inspiring story. REad about it some years back and been watching her develop and blossom. A real example for us all.
